Dinner of steak & bara chirashi don

I had a piece of steak (S$5.30/260 gm) from the supermarket. It turned out be decent for the price and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife had the bara chirashi don ($4.50) which was also from the same supermarket. She told me it was yummy and for that price it was a steal!

Tantanmen cup/instant noodles

This tantanmen is superb considering a cup is only $1. It is spicy and the real tantanmen originates from the Chinese province of Szechuan.
How to cook it:

  • Pour hot boiling water up to the water level mark indicated on the inside of the cup
  • Cover the noodles and place the 3 pkts of ingredients/seasoning on top of the cover as to warm them
  • After 4 minutes, remove the cover and add the 3 pks of ingredients
  • Stir the noodles and the ingredients until they mix well
  • The next step?.....of course enjoy the tantanmen!

Curry udon and prawn tempura

My wife cooked curry udon and tempura ebi for lunch. It is still cold outside and so we preferred to eat in. Besides, the above menu would have cost us about 3,000 Yen or S$37 if we were to eat it in a restaurant.

Baby it's cold outside

It's still chilly outside and so we decided to make a pizza plus miso soup and salad for our breakfast. Can't believe that spring is almost here and the temperature is still between the 7 and 12c range. The coldness is most likely due to the chilling wind.

Dinner at home, Japanese style

Having Tantanmen,Futomaki, Beef Tendon and Mixed Fruits Jelly for dinner last night. Btw, the Tantanmen is one of the best cup noodles I've eaten. It is spicy (Szechuan style) and a big cup is only S$1.10 from the supermarket (soaked 5 mins in boiling water)

Bought the salmon sashimi from a sushi stall in Japan. It was supposed to be 1,800 Yen but I got it a a 50% discount because it was near closing time. The salmon sashimi is thickly sliced and tasted as fresh as the morning dew!
